Mary Clair Turner

Mary Clair Turner is an Assistant Research Professor at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on education policy, tax policy, and the delivery of public benefits programs. She joins the Better Government Lab after nearly eight years at the U.S. General Services Administration’s Office of Evaluation Sciences (OES), where she led the Education and Social Policy Portfolio. At OES, she worked across the federal government to design and implement impact evaluations to increase college access and success, reduce barriers to benefits, and improve payment integrity. While a Research Fellow at UChicago Urban Labs, she collaborated on mixed methods and impact evaluations of large-scale interventions to support student success. She earned her PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University in 2020.
